I had the opportunity to chat with one of the owners of this family owned and operated business as I am a business owner as well. I found that the owner was helpful, fun to talk to and truly dedicated to making the customers of Tappan Zee Marina satisfied. I would recommend this marina to all that want to be recipients of not only knowledge, prompt attention but also TLC.

Just a note to anyone who is thinking about getting into boating on the Hudson River.

My wife and I have had a boat at the Tappan Zee Marina for 10 years this season. It is probably the smallest boat in the marina at 16.5 feet…and we travel hundreds of miles a year on the river with this tiny boat.

One thing we have found is that many towns up and down the river have renovated their waterfronts to receive boaters and there are endless numbers of destinations north and south. 40 min South and we are in NYC….and an hour north is West Point, Cold Spring and the towering Highlands. There are many other destinations in between and beyond.

The work on the Tappan Zee Bridge means that we need to go straight out to the main channel ( instead of taking previous short cuts ) and travel with no wake under the bridge…but that’s about the only inconvenience we have noticed.

My wife took a look at the town of Piermont 10 years ago ( we live in NJ ) and pretty much insisted I dock my boat here…It is such a beautiful place and the Tappan Zee marina is a full service family owned marina with fuel, maintenance and repair facilities. If anyone is thinking about boating here I would suggest you come and talk to Audrey, Roger , Chris or Mike and see how they can help you.

Tappan Zee Marina thanks Mark for taking the time to write about his experience! The spirit of adventure obviously takes Mark and his wife to some interesting destinations! We look forward to having you at Tappan Zee Marina for many more years! I bet your post, which mentions the size of your boat, will encourage people to try boating!

I remember a restaurant from the ’70s & ’80s called Spordoni’s Ft. Comfort Inn (or something close to that) on the west side of the Tappan Zee, south of Nyack. It was either in or close to your marina. I would like to know if it still exists. I lived in Rockland County (Suffern/Pomona) and worked in Westchester (Ardsley) in those days and had a memorable engagement party for friends at Spordoni’s. I need this info for a 50th anniversary of those friends. Thanks for your help.
