TZ Marina Summer 2015

..,. but TZM is preparing to send out Summer Contracts for  2015 shortly.  We had an increase is slip holders last season and expect even more for Summer of 2015.  TZM has had numerous calls ALREADY inquiring about space for sailboats as well as motorboats.  TZM  set slips up each year according to length and width of boats that have reserved space.  Our larger size slips dissappear FAST as most of those boaters are returning customers. If you wish to reserve a slip,  please send us a note so we can contact you and answer any questions you may have!  TZM would love to have you dock with us this summer so dont heistate to call or write!

Piermont Channel Markers Installed

The Channel markers were installed last week by the U.S. Coast Guard. The consistent efforts by Tappan Zee Marina together with TZ Contructors and Ms. Lowey got the job done for 2014 boating seaon. If you want to know more read below:

In March of 2013, The Tappan Zee Constructors called a meeting of all organizations and businesses that will be affected by the construction of the New Tappan Zee Bridge. Present were all area politicians, marine patrol members, coast guard, coast guard auxilliary, pilots association, marina owners, yatch clubs and trade associations.  Unfortunately, the tragic death of 2 boaters prompted this urgent meeting. The primary focus of the meeting was to gain input concerning the navigation safety issues that arise from such a construction project. The owner of Tappan Zee Marina,  recommended the installation of  a lit channel marker so boaters could find their way to and from the main channel easily.

By April 2014 there had been no announcememnt of progress concerning this recquest. Since the opening of the boating season was around the corner,  Ms. Schneider again called Congresswoman Nita Lowey officeand  asked for help. Within one day, Mr. Conneybeare, liason to Governor Cuomo and TZB Constructors LLC, called.  He immediately moved one of the marine survey boats to the Piermont area for measurements.

Included is a copy of the marine surveyer  map of the "Piermont Bay " area.  Due to the construction of the new bridge, the channel that is used to go north along the westshore is prohibited during construction. When it is high tide boaters have no problem navigating out to the main channel and seasoned boaters know about this channel. However with the construction barges in place with many more to come, the new channel will not only allow boaters  to navigate to and from Piermont but also have peace of mind that they will be outside 1000 ft necessary while on their way. In addition to a marked channel, the TZ Constructors  installed work zone markers to visible alert boaters unfamilair with the construction zones to navigate away from the work zone.

In additon the channel will provide an easy way for new boaters and/or transient to navigate to Piermont.  It would encourage more people to come to dock and explore Piermont or   dine at the all new Pier701 water front restaurant.

Lindsey Stewart-Mark Lennon Memorial Info

Tappan Zee Marina urges all boaters to attend the Piermont Town Board Meeting Tuesday July 15th at 7:30PM to support the families of Lindsey Stewart & Mark Lennon  in their quest to have fully functioning lighthouse erected on the Piermont Pier.

Tappan Zee Marina owners support the plan as not only will it remind all of Lindsey and Mark but also it will serve as a beacon of light reminding ALL BOATERS to be cautious with their precious cargo ( friends and family) and to be vigilant at all times while boating.

Info about Channel Markers &Thank YOU TZM Customers

I am writing on behalf of all of us at Tappan Zee Marina. Primarily we want to thank you for docking your boat at Tappan Zee Marina! We honestly appreciate each and every boater and want to say it to all. TZM boaters are the best, as they love their boats and use them not only to go out on the river but also to come to TZM for R and R!  Thank you!

Secondly, I want to update you about the TZB construction. The Tappan Zee Condstructors completed the measurements of the depths of the Piermont Bay area with the intentions of having the Coast Guard install a marked channel. I asked for this since March 2013. It would give peace of mind to boaters so they would have to think about the barges & question " am I far enough away from them?" . I know that seasoned boaters know exactly how to navigate from Piermont to the channel but a marked channel would help those novice boaters or those from other areas!

TZM wants to promote boating and this would be a way to ease the minds of either novice boaters or those that want to consider it but think the TZB project would hamper their enjoyment. Ive enlisted the help of Nita Lowey, our US Congresswoman from the Rockland area. If you can please call or write her office ( or your Congressperson) about this issue.

By the way, although I can't publish the depth chart of Piermont Bay yet, it is on Lo Hud, or come to TZM office to view it!  You will notice the the deepest parts of the water come from the Chennel right to Tappan Zee Marina's gas dock AND continues through the North side of the marina where all our larger boats are docked! Mother Nature is on our side! We are thankful for the depth of water at Tappan Zee Marina!

Safe Passage Channel Markers – Installation is awaiting USCG approval

For over a year TZM owners have been asking for a lit channel from the shoreline to the main channel of the Hudson Bridge which would provide a safe passage for all boaters arriving or leaving from the Piermont area. Last week the Brian Coneybeare, of TZB Constructors, held a meeting showing the new map of the Piermont Bay Area. He has announced that the intention is to place the markers as soon as the Coast Guard approves of the action.  TZM wants you to know when the Coast Guard approves and the placement of the buoy marker channel is imminent we will notify you via website information. TZM was told by Brian Coneybeare of TZB Constructors the process could begin within 2-3 weeks, tKeep referring to for further information.
